Being a hard worker as she was, Sophia came to the theater a hour early so she could practice her vocals. She wanted to be ready for what was coming to her and she was more than ready to see the rest of the cast. She knew that Shara would come and join her eventually. She stayed in the middle of the stage, starting to practice a few dance moves for warm ups. She wasn’t into a drama major and yet she managed to get the lead role. She felt a bit bad for Shara who was in the major though but she couldn’t help but be happy for herself. For once, things were going nicely to her and she wasn’t going to complain about it!
She had had studied a bit of the script already but she wanted to wait for everyone to come before getting more into the acting part. For now, she was just going to warm up her dancing skills and voice. She smiled as she randomly turned onto herself into the middle of the stage and started doing a few dance moves that were in the movie. She even tried to do the split at this point as she knew that Tracey would do it at some point.
She wondered about if they were making the musical like the movie or more like the musicals there had about the Hairspray show. She also had to practice her fan girl skills too…as she knew that the girl was majorly in love with the guy named Link. She rolled her eyes at the thought as this Link reminded her too much of someone she had known back then and she knew that Tracey girls never got to be with Link boys. These kinds of situations were only for movies.

Even though he was a freshman in college, James Diamond was majoring in acting and musical theater. He wanted to be a famous singer, he could feel it in his soul that he was destined for greatness. He knew his life was more than being stuck home in Minnesota. Now James wasn't the biggest fan of musicals, but he knew this would help him out for his dream. When auditions for the musical came up, he made sure to audition and then watch a movie made version of it.
In his opinion, Hairpsray wasn't bad. He had watched the new that recently came out a few years ago. And he was pretty sure that the role of Link was made for him. Who else could actually pull it off? Nobody. When he had gotten the call saying he had gotten the main male role, he of course bragged about it to all of his friends. Which of course didn't have his exact enthusiasm.
Making his way into the Performing Arts building, James had decided to dress in a somewhat work out uniform. Well more like clothes that won't make him sweat a ton and weigh them down to where he could barely move. Comfy clothes that could breathe easily. Standing in the doorway, he saw that he was not alone. That a girl was there, he couldn't tell who it was from where he stood though.

Being into the Hairspray musical was going to be amazing for Sophia. Not only was it about how you shouldn’t be judging people on their appearances but also it was about equality about black and white people. Tracey was a perfect role for her as she and herself both shared the same opinions…except for when it came to Link. Dancing in the sixties was going to be great as well! She stopped her little dancing routine and thought about getting to the one where it was about the ‘ladies’ choice’ dance, where Tracey actually made it to the show. She had watched the movie again and again to get the moves right and started doing them. Dancing truly made her happy, just like how taking care of plants and animals did. Singing was amazing too but she thought she could use singing in a way to get her message done, just like Tracey was fighting for the black people’s rights. She loved that movie, really, and even if she secretly she would have a Link for herself; she knew it wouldn’t happen; that wasn’t how reality was. She was going to show to everyone what she could actually do. Not that they’d remember what she used to be and it was best that way. She stopped however when she was done with her routine and noticed that there was a boy standing in the entrance of the auditorium. She paused for a moment, catching up her breathe. He looked familiar. She went further to the edge of the stage and jumped down in the auditorium. “Are you here for the musical too?” She didn’t know why but she was a bit embarrassed to be caught showing off like this…

Walking up to the mysterious new girl, James smiled at her. Even though he didn't listen as a kid, his mother had taught him manners, okay well he did listen because he scared her into listening to him. He couldn't say no to her until not too long ago. He gave a nod to her question about the musical. "Yes I am." he told her.
"Don't tell anybody else" he said and walked up to her, laying down his moves. For all he knew she could have been part of the chorus or had a small speaking role. Or she was just extremely committed to whatever role she was given. And there was nothing wrong with that. "I got the role of Link for the musical" he added, giving her the James Diamond trademark smirk.
Holding his hand out for her to shake, James knew how this would go down. He was known as the 'Face'. And a lot of girls had always had a crush on him. It was the good life. "I'm James Diamond by the way" he introduced himself.

Sophia took the time to look at the boy who walked further into the auditorium. She had to admit; he was handsome. Could he be part of the cast? She hoped so but she also reminded herself that whatever was pretty wasn’t always the most common sensed person either. She smiled slightly when he told her that he was part of the musical too. Awseome! She’d get to meet one of the cast that Shara didn’t want to talk to her about! What a meanie her best friend was at times! She arched an eyebrow however as he told her not to tell a soul. Why was that? She paused, he did seem like being the popular kind of guy. Oh great, did she have to deal with a real life Link? Hopefully he didn’t have the same kind of annoying personality…She blinked when he announced her that he was going to be Link. Link? That was going to be her Link? Shara was right on the fact that she wouldn’t have any trouble having to kiss him! She smiled slightly. “You have in front of you your Tracy!” She replied with a light bow. She guessed that it wouldn’t be too much of a trouble for her to have to act as if she had a crush on him. She held her hand out to James and shook it politely and as soon as she stopped, he presented himself. That was where everything stopped from her. Her little heaven was falling down. James Diamond? The James Diamond who annoyed her years ago? Her smiled vanished. Him? It was really him? No wonder why they picked him to be Link. She thought sarcastically the time she digested the news. “Sophia Lopez, or …the brace girl…” she couldn’t help it. He really had hurt her feelings back then and there were no way in hell she would have forgotten about this easily. She didn’t dare saying the ‘fat’ girl, knowing she wasn’t anymore but still.

When she had said that she was going to play the role of Tracy, James smiled. "Well they couldn't have picked somebody better!" he said then paused. "I mean not because you're fat or anything, which you obviously aren't" he added quickly. 'Smooth' he thought to himself. Man he hoped more of the cast and crew would show up soon. This was getting a little awkward for him.
When the girl had introduced himself, James almost had to do a double take. Was this really the same girl from his childhood? When he was little, James did enjoy spending time with her but then one day a whole bunch of boys told him it was wrong to be friends with and he never questioned it. He was easily persuaded to be honest. And now it seemed the past came to haunt him.
Rubbing the back of his head, guilt began to consume James. It felt weird as it rarely happened to him. Instead of looking at her, his gaze hit everything else. Now he really wished more of the cast and crew would show up by now. "So uh how have you been up to lately?" he asked her nervously.

If it wasn’t for the fact that the boy was actually James Diamond, she would have giggled at his comments. He seemed nervous, poor thing, but did he just know how much he hurt her? Kids were mean, that was the conclusion she came out with but she didn’t think that there were room for a second chances, or was there? He still seemed nice but she didn’t want to fall for it again. What if he happened to have the same personality as before? She did enjoy it as they would often pretend to be stars together and what not but then something changed drastically and she didn’t understand why. Did he just know she had cried because of that? Those annoying kids, they made her live a living hell but now, she was a grown up and hopefully he was going to be one as well. She took the time to observe him a little. She was a bit tense around him still, the old scars were coming back to the surface. Even if she didn’t want to look to affected by it. (not to add that she remembered she’d actually have to kiss him). Was she really going to lose her first kiss to him? That sounded like a nightmare. She snapped out of her thoughts when he questioned her and she gave him a small awkward smile. “I found a passion; dancing, and kept singing.” She said. Why was it suddenly more awkward than she would have imagined? “I’m also studying sciences to become a veterinarian. I’ve been good to say the least, when I moved and changed of school.” She looked back at him realizing she probably sounded like an idiotic whiner at that point. “Hum, what about you? I suppose I wasn’t missed that much when I was gone.” She gave him a small smile. Really, she sounded mean and she didn’t mean it. Well, a little…

James shrugged his shoulders at her question. Deep down, he did miss her. But what would happen if he admitted that in public? She wouldn't believe him one bit. It would probably sound like some sick joke or something. "Oh you know. I still wanna be a star" he said with a smile, recalling when the two would play in the backyard of one of their houses and act like famous movie stars or singers.
"I joined the hockey team in high school with Kendall, Logan and Carlos. If you remember them. And yeah, Carlos still has that helmet on" James added with a small and nervous laugh. 'Maybe I should just leave, everything is getting a little awkward' he thought to himself.
Kicking some imaginary dirt he saw on the floor, James let out a small whistle. 'Everybody must be taking their sweet time. Well better late than never, right?' he thought to himself."So congratulations on landing the role of Tracy by the way" he said, trying to more friendly than he was a few moments ago.

If there was one word that would describe Sophia’s feelings at the right moment, it was conflicted. She was happy to see him back, sort of, or at least, to be able to have a conversation with him again. It had always been fun back then, until he ditched her without any explanations. What made him change? She couldn’t tell but she knew that they wouldn’t be able to be friends like before. Especially not considering how awkward it was.
She had to admit, he did look more in shape than in her memories but it was also probably due to the fact that he now looked more like a man and less like a child just like she looked more like a woman and less like a little girl. She perked up as he spoke of his old friends back. She did remember of them as she would sometimes say hello to them. If she remembered well, Logan was craving to become a doctor. She had a little smile as he spoke of Carlos. “Probably the best love story someone could ask for.” She said attempting to joke before looking away and she wrapped her arms around herself.
She nodded at him as he congratulated her. “Thank you…” she began. She sounded cruel before…maybe she should try to toss a compliment back. “They couldn’t have asked for a better Link either…” she trailed off. It would be really awkward having to kiss him come to think of it…when Shara was going to show up, she’d have to give her a call…

James laughed at the love story comment she had made. "Yeah it's crazy" he mumbled a little. Running his fingers through his hair, he knew he'd have to possibly beg his sister to style his hair that night. He'd be too busy memorizing all of his lines while getting ready for his next scene. And he needed a little trim and he only trusted her to do his hair.
Hearing that they had picked the perfect guy to play Link, James perked his head up. Was that a compliment she had given him? To James it sounded like it. And well, give an inch and he took the mile. "Ha, I know right" he said, grinning, returning to the old James Diamond was not too long ago. The one wanting to be a star. b]"I literally said the exact same thing when I had gotten the call! Well not to the director, but once it was over."
Looking around, James looked back over at Sophia. "So do you know who else is in this play? Do you know who is playing Amber by any chance?"[/blockquote][/blockquote] TAG: Sophia! WORDS: 193 MUSE: Ipod on shuffle CLOTHING: hereNOTES: :3

Part of her wanted to face palm the moment he started talking with assurance. Of course, he would act that way. He had always had. She used to enjoy that side of his personality but part of her wanted to know why he wanted to be famous. Was it just to be famous or because he had causes like her? She paused, remembering that at first, he was supposed to date an obnoxious girl called Amber. She shuddered at the thought. Whoever this Amber would be, she would be no match. Not that she thought she had a chance but she was still going to be Tracy after all!
“I see you haven’t changed despite all these years.” She commented but at least, he sounded more natural than how awkward he looked like before. She shook her head at his question. “Not a clue, Shara, my friend is going to star in as Penny but she didn’t want to give off the names so I guess we’ll both have the surprise.” She said.
She bit her lips before running a hand through her hair. “By the way, I hope you don’t kiss like a toad.” She felt like adding because they did have to share a few kissing scenes. She didn’t want to tell him he was going to be her first kiss, she was having a hard time stepping onto her pride to think of that in the first place.
