It was one of these nights where Sophia needed to vent off while studying for her final exams and revising her lines from the musical she was going to star in. She still couldn’t believe that she was going to star it along with James. It was also one of these days where she needed to get out of the school and do something different. She needed not to study- and Shara would be proud to know that she had her nose away from her book for once- and was attempting to ice skate. Why attempting? Because one, she had never been fantastic at it and second, she felt like doing something she wasn’t used to do and where she knew that she wouldn’t meet people who knew her.
Not to add that on a weekend and during the afternoon, there were rarely students as they showed up most of the time during evenings. Stepping on the ice for the first time since a long time, Sophia gripped the border of the wall of the ice rink and slowly attempted to get on it. There was also the good point that it wasn’t the time for Hockey Players to be on it so she wouldn’t make a fool of herself in front of them either.
She tried to remember what her father had taught him; one feet after another. It shouldn’t be hard right? And so, she started skating slowly as it came back to her memory. That was until she was too fast for her own good. “Woah…” she said as she began losing her balance as she was being into the turning point of the rink. She attempted to stop herself but she didn’t get that far into “ice skating studies” and accidentally bumped into someone before stopping in front of a wall. Some people said that it was like dancing on ice but really, Sophia didn't think that at the moment.

Exams were overrated. He'd studied, or tried to, he felt like his mind kept blanking out on him, and he'd snap back, and have to start his page over. The exam, of course, wasn't until next week, but he wasn't taking any chances, because the math was winning against him. He knew it was time to get away from the desk when he closed his eyes, and faceplanted onto his math book, shooting back to full wakefulness, shaking his head. He stared down at the page, yawning, and standing slowly, stretching his arms out wide. He was wearing jeans, and grapping a sweater to put over his black, and red striped grey shirt before going. The sweater was plain, and he snatched his hockey skates just before he went out the door.
It was a short walk to the ice hockey rink, he quietly mused on his math homework, sitting, unfinished on his desk at home. Perhaps this was a bad idea, but it didn't stop him from walking all the way to the rink. He, of course, had his gear strapped on quickly, and was skating around at a lazy pace, absently skating in a figure eight. He was aware of a few others, barely enough to really rouse his attention.
He sort of just drifted around, becoming vaguely aware of skates incoming, slowly. He guessed it to be a first-timer, or someone just lazing around like he was. At least until the person bumped into him, and he turned slowly to face her. He paused, nodding, pushing forward, and turning to face her, "Hi there.", he said. "I couldn't help notice that you look like you're having some trouble, and I was wondering if I could help. I'm Kendall.", and as he spoke, he offered his hand.

This was awkward, really awkward. What was she supposed to tell to the person she just bumped into? ‘Hi, uh, I don’t know how to break on skates and yet I decided to ice skate…as a result, you figured out I ended up bumping into you..ah ahah….’ No way. She pushed herself slightly away from the wall of the rink before turning around and noticed that the boy was now looking at her. Damn, he noticed her. Well, who wouldn’t notice the person whom bumped into you? Way to go So… she thought restraining herself from rolling her eyes at her own failure.
He looked familiar though, maybe it was just her, but it seemed that lately she was seeing familiar faces she had seen once in childhood and it was spooking her out- especially when she was known as ‘that one fat girl with braces’ and most commonly teased by boys. She tried to collect herself not to look like an idiot in front of him. “Yeah uh, I kind of forgot how I was supposed to break with these things.” She said pointing at her skates. She blinked though when he said his name. That was it, what had she done wrong for her past to come and haunt her? Kendall, of course, he had to be one of James’ friends. Not that she had anything against him though; James was the one who crushed her before, not Kendall.
“Kendall…as in Kendall Knight?” She asked hesitantly as she looked at him. He sure had grown up too. Then again, he probably didn’t remember her, and if he didn’t, it was best that way. Who would want to remember of a fatty girl with braces? Ugh, that picture of herself kept coming back to haunt her like a ghost. It was horrible. “I used to know you back then, like, as in a long time ago.” She smiled at him, wanting to remain friendly. “Sophia Lopez.” She said extending her own hand to shake Kendall’s. “I used to hang around with James.” She precised. She didn’t feel like adding that she used to be the fatty girl he used to hang out with. She really needed to get over the past.
